Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom

In 1926, brothers William and Andrew Karzas had a vision. They dreamed of creating the most beautiful ballroom in the world that would host some of the best musicians right here in the Uptown neighborhood. When the Moorish-inspired Aragon opened, it immediately became a landmark for music lovers and bands alike. Even the infamous Al Capone had a private box, with a “secret” tunnel through the Aragon’s basement that led directly to his favorite post-show speakeasy Green Mill, and still exists today.

Throughout the decades, the Aragon’s been a crucial part of Chicago’s musical story, hosting everyone from Chuck Berry and Fats Domino to the Rolling Stones and The Doors. But eventually, the famed venue began to show its age, until Byline Bank partnered with Live Nation to work together to bring it back to its former glory. Today, the ballroom’s renovations are nearly complete, and concertgoers will be thrilled to see all of the character and historic charm of the venue fully preserved, with more modernized amenities—including renovated bathrooms and improved accessibility—to ensure a strong future for this Chicago landmark.

Now the newly renovated space is ready to rock and roll once again…and we’re proud to announce that Byline has become a permanent part of its living history. Let’s hear some noise for the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom!
